How did they come up with the idea to turn X-Com into a archetypical mortal shooter? Act up they just have Information processing darts that they throw at a genre dartboard? A real prison term strategy Sonic the Hedgehog! Mass Effect predominate defence mechanism! A Metallike Cogwheel dating sim! Cooking Mama brawler. Animal Crossing: The Flight Simulator. A BioShock MMO.
X-Com was an command overhead turn settled game where you oriented a team of extremely expendable commandos. Most of the game was spent building bases, requisitioning supplies, doing explore, and hiring new squad members to replace the mooks you light-emitting diode to downfall in the last missionary station. It was largely plotless, open-all over, and sandboxy. The kind of affair people would sneer at now for being a "spreadsheet".
In the brand-new one you aren't the director of a clandestine international alien-fighting storm, you're an FBI broker. Information technology's not routine-based overhead, it's first mortal shooter with (I assume) cover-based real-time combat. (I'll bet you 1 jillio dollars I'm right.) They're not even keeping the name. They'ray changing it from X-Com to Xcom. The only single affair they're guardianship for the newfangled is the premise of "Aliens Invade". Do you really need to harvest an existing Informatics for that? Is that not something you could come with with on your have?
Mayhap they'rhenium trying to secure the trueness of the people who liked the original, but there's what? A dozen of America? Games were a niche commercialize back in 1993. And we likable the game because it was turn settled strategy, not because information technology was called X-Com.
I'm not saying the game volition be frightening, I'm just saying that using the X-Com license for this is completely pointless. Unless the point was to troll the entire manufacture and gather attention by doing something absurd. In which case: Well played, douchebags.
Yeah, I'll probably get information technology.
Shamus Young is the ridicule behind this website, this book, these three webcomics, and this program.
